Terry Roth Schaff
Terry Roth Schaff, C-IAYT, E-RYT, is a medical yoga therapist and educator. She specializes in treating people with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions that cause back and joint pain, tremors, balance, and mobility issues. She is known for her good humor and her patient, careful attention to the needs of her patients. Her work has been recognized by the Arthritis Foundation and accredited by the American Nursing Credentialing Board.
Prior to founding Schaff Yoga Therapy, Terry directed the medical yoga therapy program at Manhattan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in New York City. She has led the way in adapting yoga postures to make them safe, accessible, and therapeutic for patients.
In addition to working with physicians, physical therapists, and nurses to integrate yoga in the treatment of patients, she has developed therapeutic materials for medical providers and certifies yoga teachers in adaptive and warm water yoga so that others can safely employ these healing techniques with older populations.
She is the author of several training manuals, including Medical Yoga Therapy: A Practical Guide for the Yoga & Medical Community, Warm Water Yoga, and Yoga for a Healthy Spine. Her work has been featured in Yoga Therapy Today magazine. She maintains a private practice in Providence, Rhode Island.
